Martha is from Alabaster, Alabama and has a diverse background in the arts. She majored in art at Auburn University and at University of Alabama in Birmingham where she earned a BA degree in Fine Art. She worked as a commercial artist and as a medical illustrator, and had a successful mural business for 15 years. She has painted in watercolor for almost 40 years and has won numerous awards for her paintings. Martha has illustrated “Treasures in an Alabama Attic”, a children’s book by Sheror Caton Moore and the cover for “Fog on My Path” by Tony Serio. Her artwork has also been featured in Shelby Living Magazine. She is a member of Alabama Plein Air Artists and Mt. Brook Art Association where she presently serves as V.P. of Programs.
She has continued to develop her skills in watercolor through workshops with Wayne Spradley, Don Rankin and Pat Hall. She also enjoys painting in oils, and has taken workshops with Dawn Whitelaw, Caleb O’Conner, Craig Reynolds, Barbara Binford Davis and Terry Strickland. She has received numerous commissions for Watercolor portraits of people as well as animals, homes and businesses. Her work can be seen at the following –
