2023 Judge, Michael Dudley
Michael Dudley received a BFA in painting and sculpture from the University of Alabama, and went on to pursue a graduate degree in architecture at Yale University.
He worked briefly in the profession of architecture right after graduate school, and then fell backwards into teaching art. He worked first as an adjunct instructor at the college level, and then at the middle and high school levels.
Michael enjoys working with and teaching a whole variety of media, both two and three-dimensional. His interests run the whole spectrum, from drawing to watercolor, ceramics to woodcarving, and even occasionally, design and architectural illustration.
Most importantly though, he values teaching and the relationships that he is able to cultivate with his students, with regard to their own interests, experiences, and ambitions at Mountain Brook High School.
He has expressed gratitude towards the Mountain Brook Art Association for the opportunity to help with judging this year’s show.
