Bio
I am a Watercolor Artist living in Birmingham, Alabama. Since moving to Birmingham, my current work reflects my fondness for the Botanical Gardens and the huge variety of flowers and plants, especially the waterlilies. Han’s Journey in Painting Han grew up in (Burma) Myanmar, in a small town close to the sea shore of the Bay of Bengal. After his father left the family, his Mother raised him with the help of her extended family. They lived in their grandfather’s home with his aunt, who is a school teacher, and his uncle, who has Downs Syndrome. They were major influences on his life and helped provide a stable home environment while teaching him the importance of family, patience, education, persistence and hard work in order to achieve his goals. He attended high school then college and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in electrical power engineering, service, and installation engineer and also, graphic designer. His most recent employer was Mobiconnetworks Co.Ltd, as a Telecommunications Engineer. He negotiated land locations for towers, and also climbed the telecommunication towers. Yes! Like those on Red Mountain in Birmingham, AL. In 2018, Han decided to become a full time painter and hone is watercolor skills. He studied under Master Myat Tun Aung, professor at Yangon Fine Art University in Yangon, Myanmar. He worked as a commission artist doing portraits, landscapes, florals, still life’s, wild life, seascapes, and scenes of nature. In addition to painting, Han’s hobbies and interests are many. He enjoys reading, design creation, sketching, all visual arts, traveling, hiking, volunteering, and learning foreign languages and cultures. The magnificent work above, “Brahman’s at Work”, is the painting that brought Han’s art work on to the international art scene. In 2022, Han was invited to participate in the” Art Connection Mondiale EXPOSITION D”AQUARELLES, (UNESCO World Heritage Site) Albi, France and Warsaw, Poland. The Exposition invited only 2,000 watercolor artists worldwide to participate. Han was one of only ten artists out of the 2000 participants from around the world who was awarded the coveted title of Master Watercolor Artist. In 2022, his painting “Brahman’s at Work”, was selected to tour France and Poland with 19 other international award-winning watercolor artists. In 2023, Han moved to Birmingham, AL, USA., where he happily lives now with his husband Daniel Wirth, and Molly their Schnauzer. Han continues to pursue his love of painting and is inspired by the natural beauty he sees in Birmingham.
