About

We’re a community of artists helping each other grow and refine our painting and drawing abilities through meetings and demos, as well as develop our professional artistic careers through group shows. The Mountain Brook Art Association in Alabama has been promoting interest in art across the community since 1981.

Members

Our members are people who want to be involved in a community of artists. We help one another by sharing experiences, tips, ideas, and encouragement. We mentor one another and take turns volunteering for leadership positions. Therefore, members are generally expected to be involved, regularly attend meetings to contribute to our community, and be familiar with and uphold the MBAA Constitution and Bylaws. A PDF of the current official copy can be found at this link:

Membership is open to persons residing within a 25 mile radius of Mountain Brook City Hall. The membership directory is updated and distributed periodically. To learn more about the benefits of membership and to learn about how to join, visit our Membership Page

Meetings

Our regular meetings throughout the year feature demonstrations from some of the most well-known artists in our area, along with many useful presentations. Our members also have the opportunity to share, interact, and connect with another. See our Meetings Page for more details.

Shows

The annual Spring Art Show has been a one day show on Saturday in April or May. It has been on the athletic field at Crestline Elementary School in the past, and starting in 2022 is held at the Mountain Brook City Hall. For more information about the show, see our Spring Show page and the other menu items under that tab.

The Holiday Show is typically held for two weeks in late November/early December in an available space at a local shopping area. In the past it has been at Brookwood Mall, and more recently at the Summit.

Art shows are limited to members, and we present a niche art focus of two-dimensional painting and drawings. For details about the type of artwork exhibited in our shows and eligibility to participate, please visit our Show Guidelines page
