Margaret Fritsma

My education and career as a medical laboratory scientist and associate professor, teaching in the UAB School of Health Professions undergraduate and graduate programs, was interesting, rewarding, and “my calling”. Submerged in all this science was a yearning to be able to create art. So, after retiring, I went straight to learning watercolor painting with Wayne Spradley. I am fortunate to be able to access so many teachers and artists in the Birmingham, Mountain Brook, and Trussville areas. There are many opportunities to learn different techniques and mediums. I enjoy painting with watercolors, acrylics, gouache, and oils. Some of my paintings are realistic and detailed; others are more painterly and impressionistic. Some paintings are based on scenes from my travels. Some paintings are florals or landscapes from our beautiful world.
