Nell Koopman

Nell Koopman creates original paintings that celebrate movement, color, and the quiet strength of the natural world. Inspired by her Texas roots and wildlife of the American South and West, her work captures birds and sporting subjects in moments of energy — mid-flight, alert, grounded yet powerful. Working primarily in acrylic, Nell builds her paintings through layered brushwork, expressive mark-making, and thoughtful use of negative space. Each piece balances structure with spontaneity, allowing texture and gesture to bring life and personality to the subject. Her backgrounds are intentionally simplified, giving the viewer room to experience the movement and presence of the animal without distraction. Drawing from years of exhibiting at festivals and selling through retail spaces, Nell creates work that feels both elevated and approachable, fine art that lives comfortably in ranch homes, modern interiors, and collected spaces alike. Her paintings are a celebration of heritage, habitat, and the enduring beauty of wildlife in motion
