Please plan to attend our first member meeting of the new year! We’ll meet this Thursday, January 16th from 10:00am – 12pm (doors open @ 9am) at Mountain Brook City Hall in the Chamber Room. We are so excited to have Alisa Beck as our featured Demo Artist.
A native Alabamian, Alisa resides in Montgomery. Her Southern heritage is evident in her work. Alisa expresses the southern influence like this, “I aim to evoke an emotional resonance with Southern experiences, drawing viewers into a landscape both familiar and elusive. Through layered textures, soft hues and a sense of movement, I explore the subtle beauty of the South – its quiet landscapes, rich light and the interplay of history and memory.”
Alisa employs a diverse artistic toolkit utilizing brayers, palette knives and squeegees to create large gestural shapes with bold strokes of color. Inspired by the tonalist artists such as Inness and Whistler, as well as abstract artists such as Rothko, Alisa’s work embodies a unique blend of abstracted realism with hints of romanticism. Her achievements include solo exhibitions, gallery representation and her impactful role in community art initiatives.
