Bio
I have been drawn to art for as long as I can remember. As a child and adolescent, I learned sewing, crochet, macramé, needlepoint, and ceramics.
I began painting in oils in my mid-twenties, focusing on country landscapes and still life subjects. After taking time away from fine art while raising my children, I returned to painting professionally through faux finishes, creating custom cabinet work, hand-painted walls, marbleized wood, and abstract surface designs.
When my children left home, I pursued fine art more deeply through private study with Alabama artists Ruth O’Conner, Maurine Foreman and Ann Foster, which led me back to oil painting. A defining experience came during an intensive workshop with Jill Steenhuis in Aix-en-Provence, France, where I studied plein air painting and Impressionist techniques inspired by Van Gogh and Cézanne.
Today, I continue to explore Impressionism while also enjoying realism and subject-based abstract work. I currently study under Terry Strickland and Diane Hathcock in Birmingham, Alabama.
My work reflects a lifelong relationship with art, one shaped by growth, pauses, rediscovery, and a continual desire to learn and evolve as an artist.
